Working with the HR team was an incredible experience for me, after eight weeks of working on various projects with different mentors. I was sent to attend several meetings on my mentor’s behalf to assist in planning a significant upcoming event while she was away on vacation for a week. I was really pleased to participate because the event’s theme was diversity and inclusion, a subject I genuinely care about.
Since the company had been planning for months, most of the research was completed before I joined the project. I was able to make a significant contribution right from the very beginning of the planning process. I had the opportunity to assist in redesigning the company’s website’s diversity and inclusion page once we had finalized the event date and sent out invitations. I was able to collaborate directly with my mentor to develop concepts and make design suggestions for the updated logo. In addition, I took on the difficult but worthwhile tasks of allocating groups, dividing up names, and coordinating table layouts.
To ensure everything ran successfully on the day of the event, I collaborated closely with the event coordinator, helping with last-minute details. I was even given the opportunity to take part in the group assignment process, which allowed me to gain important insight into how the teams will work together. Making Instagram reels to document the event’s highlights was a lot of fun. It provided me with an excellent visual means of conveying the mood and purpose of the event. Interacting with some of the attendees, particularly the CEO, to gain their thoughts on diversity and inclusion was, in my opinion, one of the highlights. This position allowed me to support a cause that is very important to me while also teaching me a lot about project management, teamwork, and event planning. I am extremely thankful of the organization for entrusting me with these duties and allowing me to participate in such a significant endeavor that united people.
